Dr. Mikhaylova is a graduate of the Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College, where she earned a dual Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Biology with Specialization in Biotechnology. After receiving her medical training at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Wesbury, New York, she completed a medicine internship at Mt. Sinai Queens Hospital Center, followed by a residency in neurology at North Shore-LIJ University Hospital where she was selected as chief resident in her final year of training. Dr.Mikhaylova continued on at North Shore University Hospital to complete a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology with a concentration in epilepsy, an area that is of a particular interest to her. 

As a member of both the American Academy of Neurology and American Epilepsy Society, Dr. Mikhaylova ensures that she stays current on the innovations in her field. She has also made significant contributions to the medical field through her research, focusing on the reduction of hospital readmission, and the management of medication-overuse headaches, to name a few.
