Margarita Mikhaylova, DO

She completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Biology with a concentration in Biotechnology at the Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College, where she graduated as class salutatorian. She earned her medical degree from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM) and went on to complete her medical internship at Mount Sinai Queens.

Dr. Mikhaylova trained in neurology at Northwell North Shore–LIJ, where she served as Chief Resident, followed by an advanced fellowship in clinical neurophysiology with a focus on EEG and epilepsy. She has presented research at the American Academy of Neurology and has been invited to teach neuroscience at the Tel-Aviv University Sackler School of Medicine.

Her clinical interests include epilepsy, headache medicine, and neuromuscular disorders, as well as neurophysiologic testing (EEG and EMG). She has published on the management of medication-overuse headache and is extensively trained in the use of Botox® for chronic migraine, cervical dystonia, TMJ dysfunction, and hyperhidrosis.

In addition to her conventional neurology training, Dr. Mikhaylova is certified in functional medicine and practices through a whole-person lens that honors the connection between the brain and the body. Her approach integrates mind–body medicine, nervous system regulation, gut and metabolic health, and lifestyle therapeutics. When appropriate, she incorporates evidence-based nutraceuticals and holistic interventions to support healing at the root level. She regularly  collaborates with a trusted network of acupuncturists, osteopathic manual practitioners, and nutritionists, allowing patients to access deeply coordinated, integrative care.
